ABOUT
THE PROJECT
www.FoodSafetyAnswers.org was developed
by Iowa State University Extension to provide consumers and other
Internet visitors a source
of reliable and updated food safety information on the World Wide
Web through a database of commonly asked food safety questions
that
have science-based, refereed answers. This is accomplished by coordinating
the resources of organizations and entities currently providing
answers to consumers’ food safety questions. The site partners
with organizations and agencies nationwide that are currently providing
science-based food safety information to meet three goals:
1. Create and maintain
a current, refereed body of answers to commonly asked food safety
questions.
2. Recruit and retain qualified experts based on areas of expertise
in food safety for answering questions.
3. Link consumers directly with food safety experts via a web site.
This research project
is funded by the USDA Cooperative States Research, Education, and
Extension Service, Project No. 2001-51110-11358.
